 Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (born February 2 1977) is known as Shakira she is a Grammy award recipient Colombian singer-songwriter, musician as well as a composer, record producer, music video director, dancer, choreographer and instrumentalist who has sold over 80 million albums around the world. Shakira has been nominated for and won two Grammy Awards, ten Latin Grammy Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards (Latin Grammy Awards) and 27 Latin Billboard Awards, and seven Billboard Music Awards. Her first album was released in the year 1990. She has been active in the business of music since the year 1990. As a child writer, she started writing poems and songs when she was four. She also began to learn the guitar at age 10. The death of her half-sibling and the reaction of her father to it inspired her to compose her first full song at the age of eight.Little popular outside of her native Colombia, it wasn't until 1995 when Shakira was able to take full control over her music. an amalgamation of dance and rock with deeply personal and savage political lyrics. The strategy resulted in two multi-platinum albums. She stepped into the English-speaking market in 2001 with Laundry Service, her debut album in English. The album was composed and produced by herself. The album has sold more than 3 million copies in the United States, and 15M (sometimes called 20 Million) across the globe. The enormous success of the album is due to "Whenever wherever" the track that features distinctive Andean instruments that soon became one of 21st century's most popular singles.
