 Ann-Margret who was a singer and actress is among the most famous actors and sex icons of the 1960s and later. Her career continued to grow through the following decades as well as through the 21st century.Ann-Margret was born Ann-Margret Olsson Valsjobyn, Jamtland County, Sweden and was the daughter of Anna Regina (Aronsson) and Carl Gustav Olsson, who was employed by an electrical company. Her journey to America at the age of 6. After finishing her studies at Northwestern University, she moved to Las Vegas to pursue a career in singing. George Burns discovered Ann-Margret and within a short time she was offered a record contract at RCA and an 20th Century Fox film contract. Her 1961 single, "I Just Don’t Understand", reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. Bette Davis was the daughter of Bette Davis in Frank Capra’s Pocketful of Miracles (1961). Her debut as an actor occurred in the same year. She was in the musical State Fair (1962) a year after her breakthrough in 1963. With Bye Bye Birdie (1963) and Viva Las Vegas (1964) opposite Elvis Presley, she became a Top 10 Box Office star as well as a teen idol, and a Golden Globe nominated actress. The film was advertised as the most popular young actor in Hollywood and for the following years was known as the "sex kitten." Her following pictures were sometimes dismissed by critics (Bus Riley's Back in Town (1965) and The Swinger (1966)) and sometimes, they were even hailed (The Cincinnati Kid (1965)). She couldn't escape being typecast because of her gorgeous looks. Her career stagnated in the 1960s.
