Marie Osmond

Olive Marie Osmond, born on October 13, 1959 was an American actor, singer and host of a television show. She is also a part of the Osmonds showbiz family. The singer was not part of the family's vocal group, but she was a pop and country musician, as well as co-host of variety shows on television during the 1970s. The most well-known of her songs is a remake of the pop country ballad "Paper Roses". From 1976 to 1979 She and her singer brother Donny Osmond hosted the television variety program Donny & Marie.Olive Marie Osmond was born in Ogden, Utah, the eighth of nine children (and the only daughter) born to Olive May (nee Davis; 1925-2004) and George Osmond (1917-2007). She was raised by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her brothers are Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, and Jimmy Osmond. From an early time, her brothers had an active career in showbusiness as well as singing and performing on national television. Osmond made her debut as a member of her brothers' show known as the Osmond Brothers on The Andy Williams Show at the age of just three years old, however, she generally , she didn't perform alongside her brothers on the show's television performances until the 1960s.Marie was initially one of only two siblings (out of nine) in the Osmond family who was not in the industry of music. Tom Osmond, who was deaf was the other. (In addition to the original four Osmond Brothers, Donny and Jimmy were hearing impaired, and the oldest brother Virl Osmond was involved behind the scenes with dance routines.) Donny was a star as a teenager after the Osmonds' initial popularity in the 1970s. The Osmonds' mother persuaded Marie to make an album, and she signed with the family's label MGM/Kolob Records and began making performances alongside her brothers. Marie's music targeted an audience which the Osmonds hadn't yet reached: country music, because her brothers were already playing rock music in 1972.
