Olive Marie Osmond (born October 13th 1959) is an American actor, singer as well as a host on television. She is a member of the show business family the Osmonds. She was not part of her family's vocal group, but she did become a pop and country artist and host of variety shows on television during the 1970s. Her most well-known hit song is the version of "Paper Roses" which is a country pop song. She along with her brother Donny Osmond were hosts of the variety show on television Donny & Marie from 1976 until 1979. Olive Marie Osmond was the eighth child and sole daughter of Olive May (nee Davis) and George Osmond (1917-197). She was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her brothers include Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, and Jimmy Osmond. From a young age, the brothers pursued a career in show business singing, as well as performing on national television. Osmond made her debut as a member of her brothers' group the Osmond Brothers on The Andy Williams Show at the age of three, but generally , she didn't perform alongside her brothers in the group's television shows until the 1960s.Marie was initially one of only two siblings (out of nine) in the Osmond family not active in the music industry; Tom Osmond, who was deaf, was the other. (In addition to the original four Osmond Brothers, Donny and Jimmy were hearing impaired, and the older brother Virl Osmond worked behind the scenes in choreography.) Donny became a celebrity when he was a teenager following the Osmonds had their first big success in 1970. The Osmonds' mother persuaded Marie to make an album, and she signed with the label of the family MGM/Kolob Records and began making appearances in concert alongside her brothers. Marie's music was targeted at a niche market which the Osmonds hadn't yet had access to: country music since her brothers were already rocking in the year 1972.
