She along with her brother Donny Osmond were the hosts of the variety show on television Donny & Marie from 1976 until 1979. Olive Marie Osmond was the eighth child and the only child born to Olive May (nee Davis) and George Osmond (1917-197). She was raised by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At an early time, the Osmond brothers had an active career in showbusiness, singing and appearing on television shows across the nation. Osmond was first seen as part of the brothers' group the Osmond Brothers on The Andy Williams Show at the age of three, but generally did not perform with her brothers in the group's television performances until the 1960s.Marie was the only two siblings (out of nine) in the Osmond family who was not involved in the industry of music. Tom Osmond, who was deaf was the other. Donny, Jimmy and Virl Osmond the older Osmond brother, were also involved in the dancing routines. Following the initial success of the Osmonds in the year 1970, Donny gained success as a solo artist on the charts and became a popular teen idol. The Osmonds mom persuaded Marie to record an album and signed her with the family's label MGM/Kolob Records and began making appearances in concert with her brothers. Marie's music was targeted at an audience which the Osmonds hadn't yet reached: country music, since her brothers were already playing rock music in the year 1972.
