 Vanilla Ice Vanilla Ice, an American artist who made a worldwide sensation with his hit single "Ice Ice Baby" It's an undisputed one-hit wonder. He was born as Robert Matthew Van Winkle, he was nicknamed Vanilla Ice as a teenager. Born into an unreliable home and a broken family, he didn't know the name of his father's biological father. He often relocated when his stepfather switched jobs. He was an underachieving pupil in the teen years and was a dropout of school before graduating. One thing that stood this teenager apart from the other kids in homes that were troubled was his extraordinary musical talents. He was a big fan of hip-hop, and he was a lover of breaking dance, especially the move called 'ice'. This earned him the nickname 'ice. He formed his own band, the 'Vanilla Ice Posse'. They performed on the streets, as well as in clubs. He was also passionate about motor racing, and won three consecutive titles in the National Grand Championship. After suffering an injury and a sprain, he decided to quit racing professionally and focus his efforts in music. He released his debut album "Hooked," then reissued under the name 'To the Extreme with the single 'Ice Ice Baby that was his first claim to fame. The album peaked at No.1 in the Billboard 200, and is widely believed to have popularized hip-hop in the white population.
