Sela Ward Sela Ward, an American actor, is best recognized for her Emmy Award-winning performance on series like 'Sisters' and "Once and Again." Sela was born in Mississippi and has been attracted to acting since childhood. Following her high-school graduation, she attended the University of Alabama and double-majored in fine arts as well as advertising. Then, she began working as a storyboard artist. She began modeling to earn additional income and soon began appearing in commercials for TV. In 1983, she made her TV and film debuts with the film 'The man who loved Women'. She also was a part of the television series "EmeraldPoint N.A.S.'. After appearing in the roles of guest stars in numerous television series and films in the 1980s Her acting career began to take off in 1991, when she was cast in the role of Teddy Reed in the series. The role won her a prestigious 'Primetime Emmy Award'. She was also a part of the show 'Once and Again' and was awarded a 'Primetime Emmy' as well as a 'Golden Globe' award for her performance in the role of "Lily Manning" on the show.
