Torrence Ivy, Jr. (Boosie BadAzz), was born in Louisiana. He was raised by his father, Torrence Hatch, Sr. who was a pastor until he died in 1997, and his mother, Connie Hatch, a school director. Boosie was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child. His cousin, Young Dee, saw Boosie's potential as he reached his teens and started inviting him to events. In the 90s He introduced Boosie and C-Loc to Baton Rouge rapper C.Loc. Young Bleed and C-Loc mentored Boosie in teaching Boosie the basics of the industry. Being the youngest member of Concentration Camp, he was allowed to join them in 1998. The group consisted of C-Loc, Young Bleed, Lucky Knuckles, J-Von, Lee Tyme, Max Minelli, Boo, and Happy Perez.Two years later, Boosie debuted on C-Loc's fifth album, "It's a Gamble," and the group's third album, "Camp III: Thug Brothas." Young Bleed was let go in 1998, and Boosie was his replacement, taking up a huge responsibility. Boosie recorded "Youngest of Da Camp" his first album when the age of 17 years old. Happy Perez produced the album. Max Minelli, Donkey and C-Loc were on the album.
