Amy Jean Klobuchar ('kloUb@Sa/KLOH was born on May 25 60, 1960. Klobuchar is an American politician and lawyer who is currently the top United States Senator from Minnesota. This position she held from 2007 to present. A member of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), Minnesota's affiliate of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the attorney of Hennepin County.Born in Plymouth, Minnesota, Klobuchar graduated from Yale University and the University of Chicago Law School. She was a partner in two Minneapolis law firms before she was elected county attorney of Hennepin County in 1998. This meant she was the person in charge of all criminal prosecutions in the state's largest county. Klobuchar, who succeeded Mark Dayton in becoming Minnesota's first female senator elected by the people and was the first woman to be elected to the Senate. In 2012, Klobuchar was reelected with a stunning win. She was able to win nearly all of Minnesota's 87 counties. Klobuchar was elected again in the year 2018. In 2010 and 2009, Klobuchar was called a "rising star" within the Democratic Party. Klobuchar's political opinions are aligned with the modern liberal movement. She has been focused on healthcare reform, consumer protection, agriculture and climate change. She is well-known for her jovial Midwestern manner of speaking and her ability to win in the rural areas of Minnesota.
