Rebecca Renee Black (born June 21, 1997 ) is a popular American singer and YouTuber. Her name was featured in a variety of media after her music video for the 2011 single "Friday" went viral on YouTube as well as other social media sites. A lot of music critics and fans critiqued Friday's track and called it "the most awful song of all time". Black released other songs, including "Saturday", her Dave Days collaboration. She has uploaded videos to her YouTube channel on a variety of topics.She has released two independent extended plays: RE / Black (2017) and Rebecca Black Was Here (2021).Black was born on the 21st of June, 1997 in Irvine, California. She is the daughter of John Jeffery Black and Georgina Marquez Kelly who are both veterinarians. Her mother hails from Mexico, while her father is English, Italian and Polish descent. She moved to the public school due to being bullied. She joined the school's musical theatre program, where she felt she was "meant to be". Black made the decision to go homeschooling in April of 2011 to make a career of it and avoid being taunted by her former classmates. Black stated that her busy schedule had also led her to fall behind in English classes.
