Shania Twain

 Shania Twain was conceived as Eilleen Regina Edwards born to Clarence (Morrison), Edwards, in 1965 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She is the third child of Clarence (Morrison), Edwards. Sister Jill has two years old and Carrie-Ann is three years older. Her mother divorced Jerry Twain (an Ojibwa Ojibwa from Timmins, Ontario) when she was six years old. He adopted her as his own. As a teen she began performing in bars after school. When she was thirteen, she appeared on The Tommy Hunter Show (1965). At 22 her parents died in a crash and she was the legal guardian of her half-brothers (Mark who was 13 and Darryl, then fourteen) as well as her sister, and put her singing career in the background to take care of her family. In 1991 she changed her name to Shania (meaning "I'm on my way" in Ojibwa it was actually the name of a co-worker), and signed the contract with Mercury Nashville that same year. Her first album went by without notice, but her second album (produced by (Mutt) Mutt Lange, whom she got married in 1993) set records in the world with its sales!
