Richard Morgan Fliehr may not be what you would imagine from a professional wrestling star. Flair was medical student at Minnesota University. His father was a surgeon and his mother was an actress. He quit college to train for the AWA World mat wars under Verne Gagne, a renown former champion. On the 10th of December, 1972 when the wrestler made his professional debut with the help of "Scrap iron" George Gadaski (realname: John Kosti), to a ten-minute draw in Rice Lake. Flair began his professional career at Gagne's Minneapolis Boxing & Wrestling Club. He was later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he worked for Jim Crockett Promotions, a member of the global organization that regulates the sport called the National Wrestling Alliance. Flair was managed by George Scott, a matchmaker (wrestling terms). He won his first NWA World title in 1981. He would also hold the belt for nine times more. He later worked with World Championship Wrestling, which Ted Turner formed after purchasing the JCP assets as well as Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Entertainment.
