Natalie Portman is the first person born in the 80s to have been awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress (for Black Swan (2010)).Natalie was born Natalie Hershlag on June 9 1981 in Jerusalem, Israel. Her parents are Avner Hershlag (an Israeli doctor) as well as Shelley Stevens (an American-born artist, from Cincinnati, Ohio), who are Natalie's agents. Her parents are both from Ashkenazi Jewish descent. Natalie's family moved out of Israel to go to Washington, D.C., while she was young. Her family moved several times before they finally settled in New York. She still lives in New York to this day. She was awarded an honors degree and her academic accomplishments led her to enroll at Harvard University. At 11 years of age, she was discovered by a pizza shop agent. She was pushed towards a career in modeling but she decided that she would rather pursue an acting career. Although she was part of many performances live, Leon: The Professional (1994) (also known as "Leon") made her debut film. After this, Natalie won roles in such films as Heat (1995), Beautiful Girls (1996) as well as Mars Attacks! (1996).
