Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, comedienne, singer, and model. She became one of the most iconic icons and is remembered both because of her stunning portrayal of the Hollywood sex symbol and her tragic professional and personal struggles in the film industry. Her death and life remain highly controversial and speculated. She was born in the Los Angeles County Hospital, the 1st of June, 1926. Her mother, Gladys Pearl (Monroe), was born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to American parents from Indiana and Missouri as well as an employee of Consolidated Film Industries. Marilyn's biological father was identified through DNA tests as Charles Stanley Gifford, who had been born in Newport, Rhode Island, to a family with long-standing roots in the state. Because Gladys was financially and mentally incapable of caring for the young Marilyn, Gladys placed her into the care of a foster family, The Bolenders. While the Bolender family was keen to adopt Marilyn, Gladys was eventually capable of stabilizing her life and took Marilyn back to her care when Marilyn was seven years old.
