Henry Franklin Winkler is an American actor and comedian and director. He is also an author . He became famous for playing the role of Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli on 1970s sitcom "Happy Days. The actor was born in New York around the Second World War to an emigrant German Jewish family. The actor was undiagnosed as a dyslexic child and experienced a challenging childhood. His teachers and parents were not able to give him a chance to show their empathy. In his early years, he became fond of acting, and decided to be an actor after getting an appearance in a school play in the eighth grade. He eventually earned his MFA degree from the Yale School of Drama, and then he returned to New York, hoping to gain a foothold at the Broadway. Although he appeared in a number of productions, he was able to establish himself as an actor when he moved to Los Angeles and got cast in 'Happy days'. He won a few awards and nominations for his performances, and later tried his hands at direction and production as well. In 2003, he made his debut as a children's writer, coauthoring 19 books about the dyslexic child, Hank Zipzer. He's still very active and plays numerous important roles on TV movies and shows. In 2008, he received an award on the 'Hollywood Walk of Fame.'
