George Foreman, in full George Edward Foreman, (born 10 January 1949 in Marshall, Texas, U.S.), American boxer who twice was world champion in heavyweight (1973-74, 1994-95). At 45, Foreman was the world's oldest champion heavyweight. He was awarded the gold medal in heavyweight boxing at the 1968 Olympic Games, Mexico City. The 6-foot 3-inch (1.9-metre), 218-pound (98.9-kg) Foreman first captured the professional heavyweight belt after knocking out Joe Frazier in two rounds at Kingston, Jamaica, on January 22nd, 1973. After winning all forty professional fights, which included 24 consecutive knockouts sequences Foreman fell short of the title to Muhammad Ali in eight rounds during the "Rumble In the Jungle" in Kinshasa (Zaire) on October 30, 1974. In 1977, he retired from the ring and became an evangelist.
