 The term"biography" is used to describe the book itself or a section in a library where such books are found. Every biography is a story about a person who is real. A biography may be about an individual who was long gone in the past, but also one who is alive however in the latter scenario, it has to be unfinished. The term autobiography refers to writing a biography by the individual who wrote it. They are, of course, necessarily incomplete.Sometimes biographies are much smaller than a book, and anyone who's been asked to write a bio for, say, a conference or a community newsletter would be pleased to know. The term used in these situations is changed to bio, a term that could be a synonym for biography and an expression for what is actually an autobiographical sketch: a brief description of someone's life. These kinds of biographies--bios--vary, but many times they are only a few sentences long. It can be helpful to look at bios from the same context as your own to assist you in deciding what to write.
