Amanda Knox

Amanda Marie Knox was born July 9 in 1987. She is an American journalist, activist, author and activist. After the murder of Meredith K. Kercher in 2007, she was wrongly convicted and was sentenced to almost four years in prison in Italy. Knox was an exchange student, who lived in the same apartment in Perugia. In 2015, Knox was definitively acquitted by the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation.Knox was 20 years old at the time of the murder, called the police after returning to her and Kercher's apartment following a night spent with her boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito. She found Kercher's bedroom locked, as well as blood in the bathroom. In the following police interrogations which are an open issue, Knox allegedly confessed to the murder, along with Patrick Lumumba, her employer. Initially, Knox, Sollecito, and Lumumba were all arrested for Kercher's murder, but Lumumba was soon released. In the initial trial, Knox and Sollecito were found guilty and sentenced to 26 and 25 years in prison and Sollecito was sentenced to 25 years. A known burglar, Rudy Guede, was caught a couple of days after the discovery his bloodstained fingerprints on Kercher's possessions. In a speed-track court Guede was found guilty of murder and handed a sentence of 30 years of prison. This was later reduced to just 16 year. A court in Italy ruled Guede was able to complete his sentence by doing community service.
