Rebecca Black

Rebecca Renee Black (born June 21, 1997 ) is an American singer and YouTuber. The music video she made for "Friday" which was her single of 2011 became a hit on YouTube as well as other social media platforms. The song received plenty of media coverage. "Friday" was criticized by critics of the music industry and viewers, who dubbed it "the worst song ever". Black has released other songs, including "Saturday" which was her Dave Days collaboration. Black was born in Irvine, California, on June 21, 1997. Black is the daughter of John Jeffery Black, a veterinarian, and Georgina Marquez Kelley. Her mother was born in Mexico, and her father is English, Italian and Polish descent. She enrolled in an all-public school due to bullying. She joined the school's musical theater program and felt that she was "meant to be". In April 2011, Black dropped out in favour of homeschooling. She cited the need to concentrate on her work and to avoid taunts from her old classmates. Black claimed that her busy schedule had also led her to miss English classes.
