Russ Abbot

 Russ Abbot, born Russell Allan Roberts on September 18, 1947, is a comedian, actor, and musician from England. Born in Chester,he first came to public notice during the 1970s as the singer and drummer with British comedy showband the Black Abbots, later forging a prominent solo career as a television comedian with his own weekly show on British television.Continuing his musical career as a solo artist, Abbot released several charting singles and albums. His career has continued to grow with the shift to more mainstream , serious acting on television shows, series, and stage productions.As drummer and backing singer, Abbot joined the Black Abbots (founded by Robert Turner) in Chester in the late 1960s. They released a number of singles to modest chart success on minor labels during the first half of the 1970s.The band only got their first major record deal in 1977 and then released a series of comedy singles as well as a live album (Abbot now taking lead vocals) before disbanding in the year 1980. Subsequently, he appeared as comedian, winning the 'Funniest Guy On Television' award five times. Abbot appeared on the television program The Comedians under his birth name (Russ Roberts). From 1980 to the present, he released some albums on his own and appeared in several television series. The most well-known track, "Atmosphere", reached No. 10 in the UK charts. In 1985, 7, was his highest-rated single. "Atmosphere" made it to the top of the top 10 in the UK and reached No. Two annuals were released in 1982 and 1983 to reflect the popularity of the show among younger viewers. The comic strips were based on popular characters and included publicity photos of Abbot as well as other characters.
