Winona Laura Horowitz (born on October 29, 1971),[1] professionally known as Winona Ryder is an American actress. At first, she was playing a variety of quirky roles, in the 1990s, she rose to prominence due to her diverse roles in a variety of genres. She has received numerous accolades such as a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and nominations for the Grammy Award, two Academy Awards and an award from the BAFTA Award. Ryder made her debut in film with Lucas (1986), and she gained attention for her performance in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice (1988). Ryder further grew in prominence through her prominent parts in Heathers (1989), Great Balls of Fire (1989), Mermaids (1990), Edward Scissorhands (1990), and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992). Her portrayals of May Welland, a socialite, in Martin Scorsese’s The Age of Innocence (1993), and Jo March in Little Women's fifth film adaptation (1994) received her critical acclaim.
