The handsome, tall and strong Scottish actor Sean Connery is best known as the actor who first portray James Bond in the hugely successful movie franchise, starring in seven films from 1962 until 1983. Some thought that this career-defining role might leave him in a position to never be able to recover from the role however he proved doubters wrong, becoming one of the most famous film actors of his generation and has a number of great movies to his credit. Connery received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1988 for his portrayal of an Irish police officer in The Untouchables (1987). Connery stole the spotlight from Kevin Costner. Connery was polled as "The Most Beautiful Scot in the World" as well as "Scotland's Most Beautiful Living National Treasure". In 1989, he was proclaimed "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine, and in 1999, aged 69, he was voted "Sexiest Man of the Century.
