Sir Paul McCartney is an important name in contemporary art and culture. He is a composer, poet and writer, as well as an artist and entrepreneur, humanitarian, and the holder of more than 3000 copyrights. He is listed in the "Guinness Book of World Records" for the most albums sold, the most #1s (shared), most covered track, "Yesterday," largest attended solo performance (350,000or more, in 1989 in Brazil). He is widely regarded as one of the top entertainers of all time.He was born James Paul McCartney on June 18, 1942, in Liverpool General Hospital, where his mother, Mary Patricia (Mohin) was a nurse in the medical department and midwife. His father James "Jim" McCartney was a cotton dealer as well as a pianist in Jim Mac's Jazz Band in Liverpool. He has Irish and English ancestry. Young McCartney was raised in a non-denominational family. He was a performer as well as an artist, and he was a very happy child with Michael, his younger brother. He was eleven years old when passing the 11+ exam in Liverpool. This exam is known as "the scholarship". He attended the school from 1953 until 1960 and earned an A-level in English as well as Art.
