One of the first pioneers of heavy metal and one of its most popular and famous musicians, Ozzy Osbourne was born in Birmingham, England, as John Michael Osbourne. After leaving school and having numerous odd jobs, he wound up in a band together with Geezer Butler. The group split up and led Ozzy and Geezer to form a new group with Tony Iommi and Bill Ward in a new band that was known under a variety of names (including Earth) that ended up being called Black Sabbath after a song of the same name that was featured on their debut album (released 1969/70). The band recorded a number of albums as Sabbath despite the decline of the relationship with Tony Iommi, that, after a string of break-ups, led to him leaving/being exiled from the group in 1979. In the short span of time, the singer began a solo career with a band with him that was wildly different from album to album and tour to tour. In the 80's, he admitted to rehab several times for alcoholism and twice was sued for suicides committed by a number of his fans (cleared totally). In the wake of his No More Tears album he announced that he would perform at the end of the tour.
