Cate Blanchett

 Cate Blanchett was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on May 14, 1969 until June (Gamble) she was an Australian teacher, property developer, and Robert DeWitt Blanchett, Jr., an American advertising executive born in Texas. She has an older brother and an older sister. Her father, who was 40 years old, died suddenly of a heart attack when she was 10 years old. Her mother passed away suddenly due to an unexpected heart attack at the age of 10. She was adopted by her grandmother to assist her mother. On graduating from NIDA, she joined the Sydney Theatre Company's production of Caryl Churchill's "Top Girls" Then she played Felice Bauer, the bride, in Tim Daly's "Kafka Dances" and was awarded the 1993 Newcomer Award from the Sydney Theatre Critics Circle for her performance. Blanchett then moved on to play Carol in David Mamet's moving political play "Oleanna".
