Alison Doody was the daughter of wealthy parents in Dublin in 1966. Doody is the youngest of three. She was born in a convent and was awed by the arts. After finishing her studies at the National College of Fine Arts, Dublin, she decided to leave for a year and continue her studies. In the meantime, as she was sitting in a cafe with friends She was approached by a still photographer who asked her to decide if she wanted to model. She agreed, believing she could make money. Modeling was both lucrative and fun, and soon became a professional model. She went on to perform commercial work under the modeling contracts she signed. One day the casting director noticed her work and suggested she try acting instead. At 19 years old She was then sent to London and soon won an audition to be in A View to a Kill (1985) James Bond's new film. She was so enthralled by acting that she decided to pursue the field of acting. Following her debut film, she shot a few TV dramas in London as well as in Dublin however her biggest break came when she was cast as Aryan seductress Dr. Elsa Schneider in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
